Girlguiding Worthing Cissbury members join summer camp from home

More than 70 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from Girlguiding Worthing Cissbury took part in a huge range of activities from their homes for the division’s Summer Adventures Sleepout. They set up dens, tents and outdoor shelters, made their own dinner and had a campfire via Zoom, followed by storytime or stargazing.

Early risers were treated to an exercise class followed by some amazing breakfasts, where the girls were challenged to make a healthy meal that looked like something else. The girls thoroughly enjoyed a scavenger hunt after learning some tracking signs, then the afternoon was filled with traditional skills such as gadget making.

Zoe Walker, division commissioner, said: “The camp showers were perfect to cool off, testing out water filters, recreating camp scenes in Lego or edible ones out of cake, or finding out how to recognise different birds in a nature game. There was a closing ceremony to lower the flags that the girls had made and Promises were renewed. It was so much fun and we can’t wait to do something similar again.”

The adventures coincided with the Turning Tides Big Summer Sleepout and Zoe was delighted to be able to make a donation of £90 to the charity.
