Hundreds of Sussex homes hit by power cut

More than 260 homes in Sussex have been left without electricity this afternoon after a power cut.

Homes in an area stretching from Horsham south to Upper Beeding, Small Dole, Henfield and Lancing have been affected.

Some residents have reported a string of brief power cuts within minutes of each other.

UK Power Networks says the power failure has been caused by a cable fault.

A spokesman said: “An underground electricity cable faulted on our high voltage network, causing an area wide power cut.”

It says it hopes to restore power to all homes by 4pm.
