Clymping Dog Sanctuary in Ford Road, Arundel, wants children to draw A4-sized pictures with a canine theme and email a scan to [email protected].
Once the current lockdown is over, the pictures will be displayed on a 40ft long, 10ft tall wall that is bare at the moment: either the scans or the originals.
Maxine Pears, treasurer of the sanctuary, said: “We thought about inviting schools down but never got around to it.
“The other day, I was thinking that kids are sitting at home with not a lot to do; maybe this could help.”
She added: “The wall is right by the kennels, so it will give the dogs something to look at.”
In normal times, the sanctuary normally homes about 11 dogs - but as they are not currently able to rehome those that are rescued, Maxine foresaw the numbers going up to around 30.
She said: “We have the space, the funds will be tight but we are trying to do as much online fundraising as possible to fund them and pay the bills. But we will never turn a dog away.”
