Regal role of honour for Arun residents

THE QUEEN has praised caring people from across the county in her birthday honours list, announced this morning (Saturday, June 16).

Rustington’s Peter Denison is set to receive an OBE for his services to the rehabilitation of offenders in the area. Peter is the chairman of the Stepping Stones Trust which provides prisoners and former inmates with support and advice during their rehabilitation period.

Littlehampton residents Charles Boughton-Leigh and Amanda Paine have been listed as some of those to receive MBEs for their services to the local community and healthcare in the area.

Charles is a dedicated volunteer and has worked in many of the county’s charity shops, including the Age UK store, in Anchor Springs, Littlehampton.

Amanda is a member of the National Council for Palliative Care’s chronic respiratory disease group, and tirelessly works to advance medical care and treatment for those with respiratory conditions.

Rustington’s Agnes Taylor has also be named as one of those set to be receiving an award as part of the birthday honours list.

She has earned herself a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her services to the community of the village.
