5. Bill Nighy filming in Worthing
Acclaimed actor Bill Nighy was spotted filming at Worthing Lido in June. The veteran actor had been cast in an Amazon Prime film called Living, set in 1950s London. Nighy is known for his roles in Love Actually, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and About Time, among many others. Photo: EDDIE MITCHELL
6. Deckchairs return to Worthing beach
Worthing was blessed with some gorgeous sunshine this year, both at Easter and in the summer. Beachgoers welcomed the return of the popular deckchairs on Worthing beach in June, helping everyone enjoy a traditional day at the seaside. Worthing Borough Council gave South Coast Beach Leisure Ltd a three-year licence to provide deckchairs in three locations between Splash Point and West Buildings. Photo: eddie mitchell
7. L1 Level 1 Worthing
Level 1 opened at the beginning of July, bringing together the best of Worthing and Sussex leisure, food and drink businesses in a unique experience with incredible views. Overlooking Worthing seafront, the venue enjoyed a busy summer. Come winter, a canopy, heated seat cushions and cosy blankets were added and pop-up Christmas markets have helped the buzz continue.
8. Bayside Social
Worthing MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt opened Bayside Social right on the seafront in September. Kenny said it had been a long, hard time coming but a weight had been lifted off his shoulders now the venue in Beach Parade, by the new Bayside development at Splashpoint, had opened.
