It was a post on the Rustington Village News page on Facebook that led to eight-year-old Cerys being reunited with her missing footwear.

The family joked they had been taken by the foxes but it was not until they saw the post that the truth was revealed.

“We had a fence down in our garden and we seem to have had a few foxes in our garden while the fence was down. I left my trainers out one night, way before Easter, and I came downstairs the next morning and one had gone. We laughed and said ‘bet it was the foxes’.

“On Friday, my youngest left her boots outside by accident and again, only one boot was left in the garden. So we thought let’s experiment, let’s leave the other out to see what happens. Next morning it was gone.

“Sneaky foxes that love shoes! My daughter was tickled pink to know that her boots had been found.”

The post was put up by a neighbour in Harsfold Road, who found the boots in the entrance to a fox den in her garden.
