Paws & Claws, which is run by volunteers, has several cats at the moment which would benefit from homes with plenty of outside space where they have freedom to do their own thing, but where they can also have human company on their own terms.

A spokesman for the charity said: “As some of these cats can be wary of humans and others can be unpredictable owners must be experienced and give them time and patience to adjust to their new surroundings.

“Rural homes are needed for these cats and would be suitable for stables, smallholdings, or house with large gardens. If not living indoors, they must have suitable shelter outside.

“If you would like to make donations to help us in our work, please send a cheque to Coombe Down, London Road, Sayers Common, BN6 9HX or online through PayPal.

Food is always welcome and there is a bin by our inner gate. We cannot take bedding, towels, or things to sell.

“These are difficult times for us all, and whilst we are unable to have visitors unless by appointment, life goes on as normal regarding the cats and their care, some of whom have ongoing veterinary needs.

“Thank you for your support at this difficult time.

“Please ring 01444 831286 for further information.”
