Second Broadwater Dog Show doubles total raised last year

In its second year, the dog show saw hundreds of pets and their owners enjoy the stalls and competitions on offer, successfully raising £3,050 for the charity’s community services.

The event, sponsored by Paws Training, was opened by Worthing mayor and mayoress Paul and Sandra Baker, with the sun shining down on Broadwater Green.

Helen Tidball, corporate fundraiser said: “We are so thrilled with the turnout and money raised this year, with it only being our second time putting on this event, the amount of families and dogs that turned out was amazing.”

There were a variety of well-contested show categories, including prettiest girl, best puppy, and best rescue. The winner of the day’s most prestigious prize, best in show, was Toastie the Chihuahua, impressively, also the winner of the show’s musical obedience challenge.

Joyce Booker was the lucky winner of a hamper worth more than £100 and packed with an abundance of dog treats, donated by Fiona from H.D. Tribe as a raffle prize.

Helen added: “It was a great day and so many gorgeous dogs took part in the competition. Having a community of dog lovers come together was lovely. Thank you to Paws Training and to everyone who came out and supported Guild Care.”

The money raised will go towards Guild Care’s many services for the community. The charity, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary, runs three care homes and more than 30 community services, helping more 3,000 people each year aged from five to 105 in Worthing and its surrounding areas.
