Storrington & Pulborough Rotary Club member's milestone marked

Michael Shove turned ninety years of age recently and the Rotary Club of Storrington & Pulborough District marked the occasion presenting him with a crystal engraved paperweight.

Michael was a founder member of the club when it was chartered in 1983 and has been an active member ever since.

Born in Wraysbury in Berkshire, Michael lived in Cobham, and Loxwood before moving to Storrington in 1977 and then on to West Chiltington in 2015.

Following National Service in the Royal Engineers serving in Singapore during the Malay troubles, he moved into building surveying and valuations.

He became an expert witness for court cases involving mortgage loans obtained by excess and fraudulent valuations. He spent some years as an auctioneer and was appointed Magistrate for West Sussex in 1979 sitting in Steyning, Worthing and Chichester.

Apart from his Rotary interest Michael enjoys travelling, viewing old buildings and can often be seen walking the local footpaths and byways.
