Stacey’s daughter Jess developed complications from meningitis in 2017 and the family has used the charity’s facilities in Southampton numerous times.

Stacey completed a five-mile walk with three-year-old Jess in her pram and her support bubble, her parents Sydney and Sharon Branford.

Stacey said: “After shielding through lockdown, five miles was tough. But every time I thought ‘I can’t go any further’ I just thought of all those families, me included, and what we go through and how we just keep going on no matter what is thrown at us, and that kept me going.

“Jessica will be having surgery in the very near future and I know how important staying at Ronald McDonald House Southampton will be to keep me close to her, during a very difficult time in Jessica’s journey.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK offers free accommodation to families with children in hospital and Stacey stays at Southampton House, so she can be close to Jess when she is receiving specialist treatment in hospital.

So far, Stacey has reached £870 towards her target and hopes to top £1,000 total to help more families in the future. Visit www.justgiving.com/team/WalkforRMHC for more information and to make a donation.
