Carrie Robson has worked as a medical secretary for the last 14 years, operating freelance in hospitals and surgeries in Sussex.

Now the 34-year-old has decided to give back, repeating a feat of seven years ago with a full head shave.

“I was wondering after a couple of years whether I should do it again, but I wanted it to be special and mean something,” said Carrie.

“Especially with being a woman, it’s quite a big deal to shave off your hair. Your hair is a big part of who you are and you spend a lot of time styling it in a way that you want people to see it.

“The NHS instantly felt right and I thought ‘this is the one I want to do it for’.”

Carrie’s shave in 2013 raised £750 and she is aiming for a similar figure this time around.

But with her hairdresser’s reassurance that she has ‘a nice shaped head’, Carrie has nothing to fear.
