Staff at Goring Methodist Pre-School, in Bury Drive, Goring, had been looking forward to welcoming back more children, having been open to help key workers for the past two months.

So they were even more excited to have such a big surprise for them on Monday.

John Moon, pre-school manager, said: “One of the staff had entered and won a competition on Facebook to have a visit from a character from Paw Patrol and staff thought the first day back would be a lovely surprise for children and would help them settle back in to being at Pre-School.

“Children and parents were delighted to meet a Paw Patrol friend whilst keeping social distancing in mind.”

The Paw Patrol mascot was provided by Tiny Tinkers Soft Play, a family-run business that wanted to give something back to the community.

It ran a competition offering five prizes of a free mascot appearance and Goring Methodist Pre-School was selected as an additional winner ‘to cheer up the children’.

Characters from the business have been clapping for carers every Thursday evening for 10 weeks and having been bombarded with messages asking for mascot appearances, it was decided to run a competition.
