Lacey-may Hardley, a pupil at Ferring CE Primary School, wanted to do something to help people affected by cancer.

She said: “I’m going from Brighton Pier to Worthing Pier and that’s ten miles. Why I am doing it is because everything I see on the telly, it isn’t fair for cancer people. This is my idea to raise money.

“I see children on TV in hospital with cancer and I get really upset when it comes on. I asked my mum if I could do a bike ride and she said yes, so we decided to do ten miles.

“I’m going to be so tired but I will definitely do it. “

Mum Kaya Field said the ride is planned for Sunday, March 28.

She added: “Lacey-may is a very caring young child. She has seen TV adverts on kids with cancer. We also know a few people that have been thought it.

“I’ve done a lot of charity fund raising and bits, so she decided to ask me if she could do a long bike ride for cancer. I will support her all the way.

“She has now raised more than £375 and it’s still going.”
