Pett

They started coming in before 2pm and continued to come in for the next 3 hours! For that time your humble reporter’s world was bound by four off-white walls and a steady stream of people asking for drinks to go with an amazing variety of cakes and scones.

In the background the jolly sound of Sussex Brass alternated with the sweet voices of the Village Choir, interspersed with such requests as “two teas please”, and “ one tea, one black coffee and an orange squash please” and the occasional bark from the Fun Dog Show. I am sure that you will have guessed that I was in the Tea Tent at the Pett Flower Show and Fayre on Saturday July 26!

To be honest I didn’t see much of the show itself but the sky was blue, the sun shone and people flocked in to the Recreation Ground. In her first year as Chair of the Flower Show Committee, Philippa Strickland said it was ‘a fantastic day’ and certainly people seemed to be enjoying themselves. So thanks to all the organisers and helpers and if you didn’t make it this year, see you in 2015!
