PETT PARISH COUNCIL: At the council meeting held on Tuesday July 20 the items in Public Time included the following: East Sussex County Council - Cllr Maynard: There had been a change to library opening hours, which had involved a 25 percent reduction but had resulted in no library closures. The new highways contract was up and running and going quite well.

Rother District Council - Cllr Saint: At a recent meeting of the Police and Crime Panel the lack of communication between PCSOs and their local communities was raised and it was confirmed that there should be a presence at parish council annual meetings. 30mph notices would be placed on wheelie bins and this may help with traffic calming. There was an update on jet skis at Pett Level. Arrangements for the flower show including toilets and parking. Update on the new pavilion and associated works.

PETT FLOWER SHOW: Don’t forget this annual summer event on Saturday July 30 from 2pm to 4pm at the recreation ground and remember the new parking arrangements.

CHURCH SERVICES: Church services on Sunday, Benefice Communion at St Andrew’s, Fairlight at 10.30am. There will be a Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10.45am.

VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE: This committee will meet on Monday August 1 at 7pm at Pett Village Hall. The meeting is open to the public so please come along and give your ideas and views on the hall.

VILLAGE VOICES: Also on Monday August 1 the Village Choir will meet at Pett Methodist Church at 7.30pm.

PETT OLDER PEOPLE’S PROJECT: POPP on Tuesday August 2 will feature Anna from the RSPCA with a talk on woodlands. The session runs from 10.30am to 2pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The next visit will be on Tuesday August 2 when it will stop outside Pett Church from 10am until 10.30am.

VILLAGE COFFEE MORNING: The Village Coffee Morning takes place again on Wednesday August 3. Starting at 10am Sally and her team will be ready to welcome you with the very best coffee, tea, biscuits and yummy, yummy cakes.
