Petworth fire engine blocked by £120K Mercedes on double yellow lines

A fire crew racing to an emergency call-out were blocked by a Mercedes-Benz which had parked on double yellow lines.

Petworth fire service’s team were called to an incident in Grove Lane on Thursday evening (December 9) but could not attend the scene as their fire engine was blocked by an ‘inconsiderate’ driver who had parked their £120,000 Mercedes-Benz on double yellow lines.

Thankfully the call-out was a false alarm, but a spokesperson for the station has taken to social media to highlight the issue.

Residents spoken out in anger describing the driver as ‘selfish’ and ‘inconsiderate’ with concerns that next time it may not be a false alarm.In a post on Facebook, the spokesperson for Petworth Fire Station 45 said: “45P1 attended an incident in Grove Lane yesterday evening. Unfortunately due to some inconsiderate parking on double yellow lines we couldn't get the appliance down to the incident. Fortunately on this occasion it was a false alarm.”
