It was a popular meeting place in Worthing’s town centre.
But as these pictures show, the site of the town’s former bandstand is looking very different as construction work continues.
Builders have been redeveloping the site since January, with plans to include new covered seating and red-brick paving after consultations with residents.
This is part of of a £1.2million project to revamp Worthing’s main shopping area.
Town centre manager Sharon Clarke said: “The paving is going to last 30 to 40 years and the bandstand was a cement structure and had a limited lifespan.
“During the consultation people wanted a performance area and the bandstand was never that. The new plans will allow both covered seating and a performance area.”
