PICTURES: Eco Open Houses trail a major success
The third Worthing Eco Open Houses trail proved to be a major success across Worthing and Lancing.
Almost 700 visitors came from all over Sussex - almost doubling last year’s numbers.
Eleven properties were open to showcase a variety of workshops and exhibits ranging from creating your own rain garden to Sustainable - Sussex’s aquaponics chilli farm.
Transition Town Worthing hope to be running the Eco Open House trail again so keep a look out and visit and Eco Open Home near you in the future.
Worthing County Local Committee and West Sussex County Council Operation Watershed funded the events along with Henry House Hot Pool and Therapy Centre.
The event took place over the weekend of September 24 to September 25.
One visitor said: “A big thank you to the owners and helpers at the houses I visited today as part of the Eco Open Houses weekend.
“Was wonderful to meet so many like minded people and share in their experiences. So much to think about.”
Even those who helped out were taken in by the weekend events.
A steward said: “I stewarded at Richard and Merry’s this morning but had a guided tour beforehand.
“What a dedicated couple, so many things about their home I loved and especially their garden. Went straight home and tried to work out how I can channel the water from the outhouse roof straight into our pond and possibly from the bathroom into the garden.
“It will be a start.”
