PICTURES: Remembrance Day in Worthing

Thousands attended the Remembrance service in Worthing earlier today (November 13) to remember those who lost their lives in two world wars and other conflicts.

The town’s Remembrance Sunday service was held at the war memorial, outside Worthing Town Hall in Chapel Road.

The two-minute silence began at 11am, on the first stroke of the town hall’s clock, and the mayor’s chaplain, Major Sarah Evans, opened the service.

Worthing mayor, Sean McDonald, was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Mrs Susan Pyper, who laid poppy wreaths and took the salute at the march-past, in front of the town hall after the service, at approximately 11.30am.

Worthing’s Salvation Army Citadel Band, led by bandmaster Alan Slator, performed during the service and lead the march-past.
