Having first visited the orphanage in December last year, Wayne and Sarah went back in August with others to install a playground area, complete with concrete floors, sandpits, swing sets and a basketball court.

Wayne said: “It took us all three exhausting days to complete but the results were very rewarding, watching the children playing and enjoying their new play equipment.”

They also took a large van full of outside play equipment donated from The Little Oaks Playgroup in West Durrington which closed in the summer.

In September Wayne and Sarah returned to paint and furnish a play room. They hope to raise more money to buy the children a TV and DVD player and onesies for winter, as temperatures can reach -25C. They will host a bric-a-brac sale on Saturday from 10am to 12.30 pm at The Jubilee Hall in Greenland Road, Durrington.
