PICTURES: Worthing train dog attack caught on camera

TRANSPORT police have released dramatic pictures of a man they are hunting in connection with a dog attack on a train guard.

The 61-year-old victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm and thigh after the attack, on the 12.17pm Victoria to Littlehampton service on January 14.

Sergeant John Dickinson, from the British Transport Police (BTP), said the attack happened after a man refused to show the train guard his ticket.

The dog, believed to be a tan-coloured Staffordshire terrier cross, then bit the guard on the thigh and arm.

Sgt Dickinson added: "When the train arrived at Worthing station, the man got off with his dog and when the member of rail staff approached to show him bleeding puncture marks on his arm, the suspect fled the station through the car park."

The dog owner is described as between 18 and 20, of medium-build, and about 5ft 7in tall.

He was wearing a black, hooded top, black jeans and a black baseball cap, with a distinctive black and red back pack.
