Plan for 40 homes in Ferring submitted to council

PLANS for a 40 home development in Ferring have been submitted to Arun District Council.

If approved, the homes will be built on Grenyers Field with access from the A259.

Any work carried out would be separate to the Ferring neighbourhood plan, which would see an additional 50 homes built in the village, but has yet to be approved.

Carole Robertson, chairman of Ferring Parish Council, said: “We’re not happy about it. If you add it to the Jenkins’ Yard development that’s an extra 80 houses to a village of 2,000.

“We would need a better doctors surgery and an increase in places at the primary school, but it’s not going to happen, this is the problem.”

In January, representative’s from developer Taylor Wimpey gave a presentation at a parish council meeting to outline their intentions, which Mrs Robertson credited them for.

At the presentation they acknowledged there was an issue with Japanese knotweed on the site.
