"Play On" with the Southwick Players

WHATEVER happened to Jimmy and Alison Porter?

The answer is pictured. Guy Steddon and Anna Quick '“ "Jimmy" and "Alison" in Southwick Players' award-winning production of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger in October '“ are playing two less heavyweight, but highly entertaining roles next week.

The pair portray the young romantics Billy and Violet in the Players' version of Rick Abbot's comedy Play On, from Wednesday to Saturday at Southwick's Barn Theatre.

Step backstage and discover the trials and tribulations which face every amateur dramatic company in the run-up to a show.

Prima donnas, a constantly changing script, missing props, wobbly scenery, forgotten lines and a director who "just can't take any more".

This three-act play concludes with a disastrous opening night as the inept group of actors attempt to perform an awful murder mystery written by an amateur playwright (played by Brenda Ettridge, right) with an inflated opinion of her talent.

Performances of Play On will start at 7.45pm, with a Saturday matine at 2.30pm.

Tickets are on sale from the Barn Theatre box office on 01273 597094.
