Police investigate girl being approached outside Worthing school

Police are investigating reports a girl was approached by a group of men outside a Worthing school.

The girl, who is a student at Davison High School, in Selborne Road, had felt “vulnerable” after a group of men got out of vehicles in Downview Road, last Monday afternoon.

The girl ran away and the incident was reported to police by her mother.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The mother of the child reported the incident to police and after interviewing the girl we believe that she felt vulnerable after seeing the men and vehicles and did the right thing by running away.

“Police attended and after speaking to the girl they believe the men did not approach her and they did not talk to her. There is nothing to suggest at this time that their actions were suspicious, however enquiries within the locality are ongoing.”
