Police release Efit of Tarring rape suspect

Detectives searching for a man who raped a woman in High Street, Tarring during the summer have released an Efit of the suspect.

At about 10pm on Sunday 26 July, the woman who is in her early fifties and lives locally, had been sitting on a bench in a small park area opposite Thomas A’Beckett School, in High Street, Tarring having just been to the nearby Tesco Express, when she was attacked from behind by a man who raped her and stole £20 before making off.

The woman made her way home and the incident was reported to the police on 7 December.

The man is described as white, about 5’9”, of muscular and broad build, with prominent front teeth and short brown hair.

He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and jeans.

Detective Constable Graham Gray said; “There have been no other similar assaults in this area recently.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who can assist us.

“Were you in the West Tarring High Street area on the last Sunday evening in July this year and if so did you see the man or the incident ? Have you seen a man of this description in the area since then ?

“If you can help, please contact us on [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 1022 of 07/12.”
