Police release efit of Worthing rape suspect

Police investigating the reported rape in broad daylight of a 21-year-old Worthing woman have issued an efit of the suspect.

The woman was in Westcourt Road, Worthing at around 5pm on Tuesday, April 19 when a man approached her from behind, before dragging her into an alleyway.

However, police have said the circumstances are still not clear.

The suspect was described as black, between 6’ and 6’2” with a goatee. He had a shaved line in one of his eyebrows and was wearing a white jumper.

Detective Inspector David Payne said: “That area of Worthing would have been busy, especially at that time, and we still ask anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

“We are still investigating but at this stage there is nothing to justify any local concern that there may be further such reports, and we do not advise anyone to take anything other than the usual common sense safety precautions.”
