Police search found man safe and well in Findon

A CONCERNED walker sparked a three-hour long air and land police search after she spotted a partially sighted man on Cissbury Ring.

The woman feared the man, who she believed might be autistic, would get lost and so called police in to help.

Officers searched the South Downs on the ground and from the police helicopter between 11am and 2pm yesterday (Tuesday, March 24).

The man the woman described was eventually found safe and well, after officers knocked on the door of a home in Findon Valley and he was inside.

Sergeant Ian Kerr said the man regularly went for walks in the area, and at no point was reported missing.

But Sgt Kerr described the outcome as "a very good result" and said it was good to see people looking out for their fellow citizens.
