Polished performance by Littlehampton firefighters

Littlehampton fire station held its spring car wash and raised £401 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

And just down the road, in Arundel, the firefighters there were hard at work with the chamois leathers, their efforts rewarded with £451 in donations for the charity, which supports serving and retired members of the fire service and their widows.

It is a cause which has been even closer to the hearts of the Littlehampton fire crews recently, with four of the town’s firefighters having been treated at the charity’s Marine Court facility in nearby Fitzalan Road in the past two years.

“Left alone, these injuries could have had long-term consequences for their ability to do the job,” said James Diston, the fire station’s representative for the charity. “The early treatment provided at Marine Court has kept them fully operational and saved the tax-paying public the cost of extended periods of sick leave.”

James thanked Roger Arthur, of Going Spare, in Wick, for the donation of car cleaning materials, including those expensive chamois leathers, to help with Saturday’s event.
