Molotov Cocktail and Vodka Bar had its premises licence revoked by the council’s licensing committee in September 2017, but this decision was appealed by the owners of the business meaning it could continue trading as normal until this was heard.

The licensing review was triggered by Sussex Police, which claimed there had been ‘multiple breaches’ of the licensing conditions.

After numerous meetings between representatives of both parties, yesterday (Tuesday September 11) the council’s licensing committee agreed to a mediated resolution.

Key to the agreement is an acknowledgement that ‘there is working relationship between the police and the premises licence holder and trust this will continue’.

Paul High, chairman of Worthing Borough Council’s licensing committee, said: “This has been a complex and long-running case at a high-profile venue so I am pleased that both parties have come to an agreement which will support our aims of creating a vibrant local night-time economy while maintaining public safety for all.”
