Peter Evans, WSCC’s cabinet member for children – start of life, said: “We know that families with disabled children often feel they can’t afford, or aren’t welcome, at mainstream leisure venues.

“We are committed to changing that in West Sussex. The card is a win-win situation. Families have more opportunities to access fun activities.

“Similar cards in other areas have shown that families can save more than £600 if they use the discount card regularly.”

Rachel Travers, Amaze CEO, added: “Our Compass Card in Brighton is a national model of best practice and has an excellent reputation among local families. We’re delighted to have been selected to work with West Sussex County Council to develop a similar scheme across the border.”

Work on developing the card will begin soon and it is hoped Amaze will invite people to register in the New Year ahead of a proposed launch in spring 2016.
