Funds available for West Sussex learning disability projects

Any not-for-profit organisation in the county can bid for up to £20,000 towards an innovative project.

The money is available from West Sussex County Council’s Learning Disability Development Fund Grant and Autistic Spectrum Condition Grant.

Successful bids in the last round of grant awards included community friendship groups, the Gig Buddies scheme, and support for people with autism to become trainers.

Peter Catchpole (Con, Holbrook), WSCC’s cabinet member for adult services and health, said: “These funds have enabled us to give grants to a wide range of projects which have made a difference to people across West Sussex.

“I would encourage any organisation that needs assistance with a project that will support people with learning disabilities or autism to send us their application as soon as possible.

“There are lots of local charities and organisations that could benefit from these funds and we’d love to help more of you. We very much want to make sure that the money goes to worthy causes.”

The funding is for a three year period. Organisations can apply for either a Learning Disability Grant and/or an Autistic Spectrum Condition Grant.
