Residents asked about Chichester parking zones

West Sussex County Council is consulting on the current operation of the Chichester Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) and whether they would like to see any changes made to the parking restrictions in their road.

As part of this exercise, residents in various areas outside of the CPZ will also be consulted on proposals to introduce CPZ restrictions.

From mid-July a letter and plan of the proposals, along with a prepaid reply envelope, will be delivered to homes and businesses in areas outside of the CPZ where new restrictions are being proposed.

Within the existing CPZ, site notices will be erected where changes are being considered.

Mike Hall, Chairman of the South Chichester County Local Committee, said: “We want this review to be as comprehensive as possible and we want the views and opinions of as many residents as possible.

“I am aware that indiscriminate commuter parking has become a real issue in many neighbourhoods in the city.

“Therefore the bigger the response, the better chance we have of making the correct decision when the time comes.”

Plans of all of the proposals are available for viewing at Chichester Library and Chichester District Council offices from 9am to 5pm until Friday, August 24.

They will also be available to view on the WSCC website – www.westsussex.gov.uk/cpzconsultations

In addition an exhibition will be held at The Old Court Room, Chichester City Council Offices, North Street on Thursday, August 2 between 1pm and 6pm and Saturday, August 4 between 10am and 3pm, where officers will be available to discuss the proposals. The exhibition will be unmanned on Friday, August 3.

Any comments about the proposal must be received by Friday, August 24.

The results of the consultation will be reported to the November meeting of the Chichester South County Local Committee. If any changes are supported, a further ‘formal’ consultation would take place at the end of the year.
