Primary school pupils enjoy new £8,000 PC suite

THE children of Battle and Langton Primary School are relishing their new style ICT lessons, delivered via the use of 16 brand new laptops and a portable charging trolley.

The new equipment was purchased thanks to the fundraising efforts of the school’s PTA, who raised £8,000 for the cause.

Headteacher Simon Hughes said: “We are delighted that we have been able to buy this equipment, which will enable staff to teach the new computing curriculum effectively.

“And the portable nature of the equipment will allow us to use ICT more flexibly for all sorts of activities.”

Funds were raised through events such as the school fireworks night, supported by Battel Bonfire Boyes, and the annual summer fete, sponsored by Rush Witt Wilson.

PTA chair Jo Reeves said: “At a time of economic downturn, we are especially grateful to all the families and staff at the school who continue to support our fund raising events so generously – without them such large scale projects would not be possible.

“And special thanks to the many local businesses who donate excellent quality prizes for our summer fete raffle – they are contributing directly to improving the educational experience of Battle children.”

Battle and Langton School is currently undergoing an extension project worth £4m.

The existing ICT suite has been transformed into an additional classroom as part of that process.
