Prince Harry joins veterans at Goodwood

A spectacular Battle of Britain air display is set to be given the royal seal of approval today.

Prince Harry will be a special guest at Goodwood for the launch of the vintage Second World War planes.

The royal will join veterans and wounded servicemen for a special ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain today (September 15).

The day is also the Prince’s 31st birthday and he will celebrate it by inspecting the planes and meeting the crews who will be flying them.

The event will mark his return to royal duties following a three-month stint in Africa where he has been carrying out conservation work.

The greatest showing of Spitfires and Hurricanes seen since 1945 will take off from Goodwood for a special Battle of Britain display.

Close to 50 of the famous planes will take flight from Goodwood Aerodrome to mark the 75th anniversary of a key victory in the battle on September 15, 1940.

The vintage planes will take to the skies and gather over Selsey bill before ‘breaking wing’ and soaring over towns hit by the German bombers during the Second World War.
