Protesters to continue fight again burner

WE fight on - that's the message from people campaigning against an incinerator being built at Newhaven.

East Sussex County Council gave the burner planning permission last week. Councillors were jeered and called 'cowards' by protesters.

Secretary of DOVE (Defenders of the Ouse Valley and Estuary), Alan Denyer, said: 'Although the planning committee voted in favour of the construction of an incinerator, I would like your readers to know the fight is far from over. All the councillors that voted in favour live outside the area.

'The planning application now has to go before the secretary of state for Local Government and communities, Ruth Kelly.

'DOVE is asking members of the public, who oppose the imposition of a huge waste burner on the small town of Newhaven, designed to burn the unsorted rubbish from Rye to Hove, to make their views known.'

To do this, people can write to Ruth Kelly at Bridge House, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, GU1 4GA, saying why they object and asking her to call in the application.
