During an exercise in which pupils wrote a list to Santa, Harvey Matthews (pictured centre) raised the question, which led to a group discussion.

The class decided to collect items ‘incase Santa doesn’t make it to them’ – which resulted in 80 bags of donated clothes, blankets, toys, books and toiletries in aid of Worthing Churches Homeless Project.

Teacher Michelle Woodward said: “I’m really proud of Harvey and how he was thinking of other people rather than himself.

His selflessness has led to a large amount of items being donated to a great cause and will hopefully enable others to have a happy Christmas too.”
