Emilia Warr and Amelia Locke from year five at The Laurel’s Primary School had their hair cut at school on Friday to raise money for The Princess Trust, a charity that make wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment.

Mrs Lisa de Carteret, head teacher, said: “As a school, we talk a lot about values and caring for others. We were moved during an assembly when the girls suggested that they wanted to do this.

“Many of the other children, families and members of staff sponsored the girls making a total of £194, a figure they can be really proud of.

“It was an exciting day for the children in year five, as a mobile hairdresser, Debi Harrower, from Purple Cut’s came into school and chopped off their 17cm plaits.”
