READER PICTURES: Rustington DIY store ram-raided by stolen JCB

BRAZEN raiders stole a JCB digger to ram-raid a Rustington DIY shop.

The heavy-duty digger was taken from a roadworks site in New Road at around 5.15am this morning (Sunday, November 16) and ploughed through security shutters covering the front of the Focus Do-It-All superstore in Rustington Retail Park, New Road (story continues below).

Shocked staff arrived at work to find the shutters ripped apart and stock scattered on the floor.

The shop's scheduled 10am opening was delayed until 11.45am but it has reported business as usual throughout the day.

One staff member said it was unclear what, if anything, had been taken and more would be known when the damage had been properly assessed.

A Gazette reader sent in three photographs of the aftermath of the raid.
