Record-breaking amounts given out thanks to carnival and open day

A celebration evening was held at Worthing Fire Station last week as cheques were presented to the six beneficiaries of the 2016 Broadwater Carnival Society and Fire Station open day.

Cancer United, Firefighters Charity, Guild Care, We Play Too-Rainbow Chest, Worthing Churches Homeless Project and Worthing Scope each received £1,850 after a record breaking £11,100 was raised.

Cancer United will use the funds for running costs as they are looking for a suitable venue to host its fitness programmes designed for people living with Cancer.

The Firefighters Charity provides complete ongoing support for all serving firefighters whether that is physical or psychological.

Guild Care will use the funds for its Ashdown Centre which works with and supports 80 families with children with special needs.

We Play Too, will ensure the funds enable people with disabilities have access to the right equipment to enable them to live their lives.

Worthing Churches Homeless Projects has seen a rise in the demand for their day centre and these are much needed funds to support the service.

Worthing Scope is looking to provide a new children’s service in 2017 and these monies will kick start that project.

The Broadwater Carnival Society and Fire Station Open day committee would like to say a really big thank you to everyone who entered or supported this great event and the people of Worthing’s generosity will make a real positive difference in lives here in Worthing.
