Record number of visitors enjoy sunny day out

The housing company were joined in the sunshine by 538 people at their annual fun day.

Maybridge Keystone Club was the venue that provided this opportunity for people of all ages from the community to meet with Worthing Homes staff and have fun.

The venue is the home of a youth club that includes young people from eight to 19 years old.

Face painting, a bouncy castle, a soft play area, fun photo booth, and test your strength were just some of the many activities on offer throughout the day.

The entertainment was lead by Lauren Crichton, a Sussex theatre singer who was joined by Marky Wild from Magical Children’s Entertainment.

The event also saw some partner agencies on the day such as West Sussex County Council with their recycling trailer, Transition Town Worthing, Northbrook college and sea/marine cadets from TS Vanguard.

Simon Anderson, resident services manager, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people of all ages having fun and enjoying the day.

“This year the visitor numbers surpassed what we have had in previous years, by so much that we ran out of food!’”

Worthing Homes provides homes for 10,000 customers in the Sussex coastal area through affordable rented homes.

They also provide key worker accommodation, low cost shared ownership, sheltered housing and new homes as part of the Sappling Housing partnership.

The company is a member of PlaceShapers, a national alliance of over 100 community-focused housing associations.

PlaceShapers own and manage 725,000 homes and provide services to more than two million people.

Simon revealed that they made money for charity on the day as well as promoting their business.

He said: “Although we lay on the event free of charge we do allow people to make donations, if they wish, to our chosen charity so this year the day raised £30 for Worthing Scope.’

Worthing Homes also provide additional services which include RedAssure, a telecare and personal response service.

They also work with Homespace, which deals with repairs and maintenance, and their garden and grounds maintenance work is completed by Greenspace.

The company also works with the community activities through the Big Lottery Funded community house in East Worthing.
