Red Cross mobile unit in East Sussex

A Red Cross Mobile Unit came to Hastings last week to raise awareness of the charity's work.

The emergency resonse control and command vehicle was bought with money from an anonymous doner and travels around Sussex heping those in need when not dealing with emergency situations.

Clare Miles, who works for the charity said: "When there's a major incident like a bomb or flood this vehicle becomes the control room.

"When it is not involved in emergencies it travels around Sussex and Kent helping those who are vulnerable in those areas, especially in small towns and villages where there are no Red Cross shops."

The Red Cross also provides home from hospital help, therapeutic care, wheelchair loans and free first aid courses.
