Remaining firms pick up Adur and Worthing business awards

Two innovative firms have picked up their honours from the Adur and Worthing Business Awards, after enjoying a particularly rewarding year.

Though unable to make our awards night ceremony last month, a delighted Stefan Sykes, of Coast Cafe des Artistes, in Brighton Road, Worthing, claimed a runner-up award for best place to eat.

Sophia Lee-Spencer, of Callisto Associates in Southwick, was equally pleased to collect her highly commended award in the best start-up category.

Reflecting on her first year operating her PA and marketing business, she said: “We are delighted to have won the highly commended award.

“I’d loved my previous job but after being made redundant my family encouraged me to set up my own business. It has been a tough year in trying to gain new clients but I have some very happy customers.

“I’ve learned a lot in this year and there have been lots of challenges in juggling life as a mum and running a business, but it has been brilliant.”

Picking up his award, Stefan Sykes believed it would provided a welcome boost.

He said: “It is nice to have gained some recognition with this award, as it’s the first thing we’ve been nominated for.

“This year has been going well and we’ve noticed new customers from families using the new playground near us. It has also been good linking with the mini golf and sand courts here.”
