Gobsmack Comics is celebrating a successful first week in its permanent spot in Piries Place, Horsham, which opened thanks to the support of a crowd-funding campaign.

The internet-based business had a pop-up shop in Swan Walk in September, and decided to make the move into a full-scale retail unit.

Owner Drew Dewsall said: “After we were turned down for funding by the bank we turned to the local community with a crowd funding campaign and people were so keen to have the shop in Horsham we were able to get the funding we needed. It shows the need for variety in the high street and how shops like this really capture the imagination of the whole community.”

A crowd had gathered outside waiting for the doors to open on Saturday morning, and a steady stream of people came through the door during the day to be met by Batgirl, and check out the cool merchandise on display.
