Stoolball: We batted first on Tuesday[22nd] in our Ladies away match at Pett and were soon in trouble when Abigail Fifield[8] was caught in the first over and then Sarah Clark[1], Claire Hatter[0] went in the second with the score 21-3 but skipper Melinda Mackay [13] joined Penny Clark [32] to put on 38 before Melinda was bowled and when Amy Mackay[1] was bowled we were on 66-5. Jack Dean[24] joined Penny before she went and then Diane Kitson[6] was run out, Emma Turner[1] was bowled with the score on 93-8 but Lisa Fifield[14] put on 17 before Jack was caught and sub Ian[4n.o.] took the total to 127 all out. Pett had opener Kirsten[11] caught and bowled by Lisa[1-19] but Anya [69n.o.] and Claire[11] put on 59 before Claire was run out. Janet[36n.o.] joined Anya to earn the hosts a 21 run win. On Thursday[24th] the Mixed team entertained Civil Service at the Clappers on a glorious evening where an opening partnership of 55 between Josh Lewis[59] and Abigail Fifield[14] was broken when Abigail was bowled. Claire Hatter[13] joined Josh before he was caught with the score at 81-2 which brought Graham Clark [23n.o.] to the crease and the score moved onto 94 when Claire was caught. The wickets of Sarah Clark[8], Kayley Sherwood[3] and Lisa Fifield[3] went quickly while Keith Apps[8n.o.] saw the innings close on 147-6. The visitors made a steady start before Shawn Green held onto a catch from Lisa’[1-8] bowling to dismiss Donna[11] and Ian Kitson held ontoa catch dismiss Stuart[21] from Richard Apps’[2-31] bowling. Excellent fielding saw Dave[7] being run out but a partnership of 51 between Melissa[28] and Graham[29] steadied the innings before Graham was run out. Abigail[1-17] had Melissa caught by Richard and then Richard clean bowled Dan [7] with the score on 124-6 but the visitors claimed victory with Ann[17n.o.], Paula[3] and Ben[20n.o.] to finish on 163-8.
