Its students competed in the national competition’s Southern Open Final A, which took place at Portsmouth Guildhall this week.

Ten schools from across five southern counties competed and the event attracted a large audience.

Competing in the national competition for the first time, the college received six awards of excellence, for choreography, concept, drama, set design and function, visual enhancement and entertainment.

As well as performing, students helped create the soundtrack, set design and costume

Worthing College’s piece was based on Dorian Gray. It saw a young male sell his soul to remain young and beautiful, only to meet his one true love and be left to face difficult choices, which ended in their love’s demise.

As well as performing, students helped create the eight-minute soundtrack, complex set design and carefully-crafted costume.

The aim of the Be Your Best Foundation is to encourage young people to lead healthy lifestyles and be their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or other drugs.
