Rodmell and Southease

RODMELL SUMMER SHOW: The show is tomorrow, Saturday, from 2pm to 4.30pm on Rodmell Sports Field. Adults Â£2, children free. Free parking in field next to the show. Schedules with all the details have been delivered to all homes in Rodmell, Northease and Southease. This is always a really friendly village horticultural show with plenty of stalls and sideshows including Patcham Silver Band, teas and homemade cakes, local produce stall, children's fairy-tale photography, children's biking event, raffle, tombola, games and side shows, tug-of-war, classic cars, fund dog show, ice creams, barbecue, Pimm's and beer tent and much more. Evening event for Rodmell residents organised by Rodmell Cricket Club, finishing with a firework display.

ARTWAVE: Saturday August 27 to Monday August 29 Rodmell has its own Artwave in the Old Rectory with WI teas in the garden. Rodmell Community Artwave has 20 locals exhibiting art and crafts. Do come along for a lovely visit, from 11am to 5pm, and delicious teas in the splendid garden. This is a new venue from last year. Access by public transport and free off street parking. Please use the car parks and don’t block our narrow streets, if you do you may get your cars damaged by farm traffic and delivery vehicles trying to pass you. It also damages grass verges etc.

C7: There are two 4x4’s using the C7 with music blaring and terrible driving through the villages, especially Piddinghoe so I’ve been told. If anyone gets their car registration numbers please notify the police on the bad driving on 01243 64222 as people are getting fed up with them. I last saw them roaring through Southover High Street, not taking any care over the bumps. As it’s difficult to get numbers when driving, unless you have an in-car camera, a passenger could help.

SPEEDING: Someone staying here recently said that whilst walking into Rodmell, the 30mph sign was on almost permanently as people were speeding through the village. As we have many young children and quite a few old people in the village crossing this road at rush hours is becoming a nightmare. Slow down drivers please. Since the rail problems so much traffic is using this road including many buses and coaches and it’s a dangerous road used by many cyclists, horse riders and walkers, so you never know what you will come across around the next corner.
