Rustington Horticultural Association annual rose and sweet pea show

BUDDING blooms and vivacious veg went head-to-head with Wimbledon, and came off favourably.

The Rustington Horticultural Association held its annual rose and sweet pea show, at the Woodland Centre, on Saturday, June 25.

“The dull weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the exhibitors,” said Alison Valentini, show secretary.

“The show had yet another magnificent display of sweet peas and roses, despite the recent wet and windy weather battering many blooms into submission.”

Roger Parsons had a very good day, scooping the Sweet Pea Cup, the Dave Sanders Memorial Cup and the National Sweet Pea Society Bronze Medal.

Mac MacCulloch also did well, walking away with the Rose Cup, the Eric Norrell Rose Cup, and the Tom Lloyd Memorial Plate.

The Glass Goblet for best exhibit in the horticultural classes, Wally Barnes Cup and the JF Passmore Cup all went to Julie MacCulloch.
