Rye Rotary Walk will provide huge boost for charities

RYE and Winchelsea Rotary Club’s annual walk is expected to raise thousands of pounds for local good causes.

This year’s walk took place on Sunday and had starting points in both Rye and Winchelsea.

Among those to benefit will be St Michael’s Hospice and Rye and Winchelsea Hospital.

Rotarian Richard Popple commented: “It was a bright and breezy morning ideal for walkers and with a prompt start. About 110 walkers chose their preferred route with many opting for the 10 mile route.

“There were teams entered by Winchelsea Town, 1st Rye Scouts, 1st Peasmarsh Guides, 2nd Rye Guides, Iden Footpath Team, Guestwell Beavers, Friends of Rye Wurlitzer, The R.I.C,H, Club and Bournes together with several family groups and individual walkers.

“President Derick Holman thanks all those who walked making it a very successful day for the club.

“Thanks also to our sponsors Bournes Rye Harbour, The Riverhaven Hotel, Citadel Restoration Rye and Anthony Hicks Oak Buildings Old Romney.”
