Salvation Army members in visit to Africa

Alan Slator and Eric Bull will travel to Tawa, south-east of Nairobi, in February for the ceremony but also hope to get to work on planting trees in the area.

The majority of the cost of the dam, almost £13,000, was raised by members and friends of Worthing Salvation Army over a period of 12 months.

Alan, who has worked in Africa on behalf of the Salvation Army in the past, said that he was proud to be representing them at the event.

He explained: “It’s a real thrill and a privilege to be going back.”

Eric added: “I never thought an opportunity like this would ever come.

“But I do count it a great challenge and privilege to be representing the church here in Worthing.”

The dam project was organised from the International Development office of The Salvation Army’s UK HQ in London.

It is one of many such projects in the developing world run by the Army.
