The Sara Lee Trust is based at St Michaels Hospice and provides complementary therapies, counselling, sanctuary days and creative arts therapies for people living with Cancer, Motor Neurone disease and HIV/Aids within the Hastings and Rother area.

Chairman Jenny Leo said the decision to open the shop in Bexhill was taken to raise the profile of the charity within the local area.

Jenny said: "We need to do more in the Bexhill area and we decided to open the shop to get a higher profile. We've never had a shop before and this is the first in the area.

"The trust treats patients across Bexhill and Rother and we hope local people will visit our shop and support us."

She added: " I'd like to thank all our supporters and everyone who has kindly donated - and the people who are helping at the shop have been brilliant."

Initially the shop will be open for a three month trial period and if it proves to be profitable a longer lease will be considered.

Volunteers are needed at the shop, which is currently open from 10am-4pm.
